Activities in Town
@stg_local
Check out their Story Highlights for up to date information on weekend events, local businesses both existing and coming to St. George, places to eat, future events, sports, throwbacks and more.
I love to check out her instagram for things to do this week, but her throwback photos are my favorite. It’s fun to imagine the St. George vacations of my parents’ youth.
@stgeorge_kids
A sister account to @stg_local, they’re a good resource for family activities. She has a blog link in her bio for more information. To search by category, check out the blog menu or her Instagram story highlights.
Story Highlights include events for the coming weekend, places to swim, parks, Must Dos, hikes, Snow Canyon, Splash Pads, Indoor Fun, Bike & walk trails, and local fun shops.
I love the local guides like: Easter Egg Hunts, Fishing Ponds, Mountain Bike Trails for Kids, Washington County Fair Guide, etc.
@stgeorgewithkids
A relatively new account, but her organization alone speaks to my nerdy heart. She has the titles of the parks and places easily readable on the photos as you scroll through. She always gives a “Pro tip” after her detailed review and will occasionally warn you of any “cons” to be aware of.
Explore Nature
We’ll do a more in-depth post later about all the trails for mountain biking, hiking, and horseback riding, etc in Southern Utah. Today we’ll just hit a couple to get you started.
@hikestgeorge
Beautiful shots from hiking trails around St. George. Find the trail names in the captions. Follow the link in their bio to the best hiking site in Southern Utah. Scroll through the story highlights to see photos and videos of the most popular trails.
@greaterzionutah
Hosted by the Greater Zion Tourism office, this account would draw any outdoor enthusiast to our corner of the state. They’ll commonly spotlight outdoor and sports professionals from around the world coming to experience the adventure of Southern Utah for themselves.
Find information and photos on huge events like The Ironman 70.3, The Rage on the Rocks Supercrawl, Mountain Bike Festivals, etc. They also highlight fun things like “Best Steaks of St. George”, “Where to eat on Valentine’s Day”, “Where to rent jet-skis for the day”.
Although they do list easy-going hikes and activities, this page caters more toward those with a high sense of adventure, either participating or spectating. Their photos are beautiful and exciting.
Food
@stg_eats
Scrolling through this page is the equivalent of stopping a stranger eating at a food truck rally and saying, “That looks delicious. Where did you get it?”
It’s the first really big food account for St. George. She takes beautiful photos and posts great reviews. In her story highlights, you can find restaurants coming soon as well as the best: nachos, food trucks, breakfast, Mexican, etc. She creates restaurant guides for Greater Zion and has been featured several times on Good Things Utah and St. George magazine.
Stg_eats reviews are always positive. If she doesn’t like it, she doesn’t want to post about it. If you’d like more of “I’m going to post about this even if it’s gross, just so you’ll know.” Then check out @stgeorgefoodieandmore who focuses more on a full disclosure approach.
Photographers
When I asked around for Southern Utah Photographer accounts, everyone I asked had a different favorite, each with their own unique style and focus. It was so hard to decide who to present here that I had to add a dedicated photographers article to my future post list. For now, enjoy this show-stopping account.
@desert_edge_photography
He adventures around Southern Utah with his family and catches breathtaking shots. He has a special focus and skill of capturing photos of wildlife.
